What is an IP PBX phone system?
A PBX or PABX (Private Branch Exchange and Private Automatic Branch Exchange for PABX) is a private telephone network used within a company or home. Users of the PBX phone system share a number of outside lines for making phone calls.
A PBX is the device that acts as a branch of public primary network phones, so users do not communicate directly to the outside via standard phone lines, but being the PBX directly connected to the PSTN (public switched telephone network ), which is the same route the call to its final destination by transport links unified voice called trunk lines.
In other words, users of a PBX are not associated with the central public telephones, since it is the same PBX which acts as such, analogous to a central office which covers an entire sector while a PBX generally offers the on the premises of a company.
A PBX connects phones within an enterprise and traditional telephone line (PSTN). One of the latest trends PBX phone systems is the VOIP PBX, also known as IP PBX, which uses the Internet Protocol to transmit calls.
